Today's exercising

I went out walking with one pound wrist weights this afternoon. I did the level I pump 'n' walk recommended in Heavyhands, but when my arms got tired from doing curls, I stopped pumping my arms for a while, and I also started doing other arm exercises, such as raising, rowing, and ski poling. I could tell that this exercise was stressing my cardiovascular system more than walking alone does, though not as much as running does. As I build strength-endurance in my arms, I should be able to increase the intensity of walking with weights, as well as eventually increase the weight. I did a lower body workout after getting home. I used wrist weights to slightly increase my load on exercises using weights. I did squats with 11 pounds in each hand, and I did stationary lunges and chair stepping with 5.5 pounds in each hand. I could feel more strain on my knees with the heavier squats, and I felt I was doing the lunges with my legs rather than my hips and glutes. For hamstring curls with the resistance band, I placed the non-exercising foot on the band to increase the resistance. I did the five rites again tonight, and I did them more easily this time. After doing them, I felt better and felt myself standing up straighter.
